Gov. Palin not a bad choice for V.P.

with one comment

I know all those who drinking the Obama kool-aid are laughing it up over Alaskan Gov. Palin as the V.P. pick for the Republican Party.  Although the arrogance and haughtiness that has swept the Obama Party (Democrats) is both overwhelming and sickening, that is fodder for anothr blog.  Be warned:  Palin is not as laughable as you all think.  Yes, she’s a woman, but let me walk you through the briliiance of the McCain campaign.  Palin is not going to steal all of Hilary’s base but that is not what the Republicans need to win.  Palin is anti-abortion, pro-drilling, pro-guns, and pro-conservative values.  She will help McCain do something he hasn’t been able to do yet:  Shore up the right wing, bible-thumping, religous base that McCain needs to get within striking distance of the White House.  All the women that she takes along for the ride will simply augment the play he’s making for the middle of America, the moderates, you know…the ones who make up their minds who they’re voting for within the last week of the process.  That’s what Palin is for, to help shore up the Right and underscore McCain’s reputation as a Maverick.  All in one simple stroke.  So stop laughing so hard, she was actually brilliant, strategic choice.

  1. I’m curious to know if you still think Palin was a brilliant strategic choice. In the first days after she was chosen, I thought she might be a good choice for the reasons you mention, but I gradually realized she would unravel as a candidate and become a McCain liability. In retrospect, I think she was a disastrous choice. McCain could have chosen a conservative who was experienced–thereby saving himself from the, “What if he dies in office,” question.
